Where do you get your sprites?

I get all sprites directly out of the game cartridges,
I've got a special frankenstinish device which is the
combination of a webcam and a broken GBA, I bring the
game up on the screen, take screen shots of the character
or item I need, and then edit out the background in Paintshop Pro.

Will we be seeing this "strange character" again?

Yes, the person displayed in
this comic,
who finds out about Rocky's special gifts will be seen
later, much later, and eventually we'll all find out
what they're doing and why.

Why does Wally act insane?

Besides being raised by his insane mother, Wally's
mental problem is plot related, and shall be explained
later on in the comic.

What programs do you use to make the comic?

Well let's see..
For most sprite ripping, I use the classic MS Paint to put them into sheets.
For keeping track of plots and for the new code, I use Notepad.
For the pokédex I use Macromedia Flash.
For the actual news I use Macromedia Dreamweaver.
And for the comic itself, and all special effects,I use Paintshop Pro.

Hey, Where do you get your sprites?

I rip all sprites directly out of the game on my own.
I don't get them from any websites, I don't know of any
websites that offer them and I don't send mine to people.

I found a typo in a comic! You gonna fix it?

I get thousands of notifications of each and every typo,
and not to sound rude, but I don't like it when people
point them out, would you like someone pointing out each
and every one of YOUR mistakes? Eventually if I get some time,
I will try to go back and fix the typos, but for right now,
I'm just concentrating on making the comic.

I think you should have this happen in the comic.

I get several suggestions from several people about what they think should happen in the comic, here's a few types.

Something that will already happen, because it happens in the game.
I just remind them that it already happens in the game and that it will eventually be in the comic.

Something incredibly stupid, like Brendan and May going to the planet Alphoorx 9 to battle giant space slugs.
I tell them politely that it's not likely to happen in the comic because it wouldn't make sense.

Something that's already happened in the comic.
I remind them that it already happened and try to give them a link to the comic in which it happened.

Something that is actually a good idea. (Rarely)
I use it, and give them credit for it in the news.

Can I have a cameo in the comic?

I get asked this quite often, more often than I'd like,
most of the time it's someone wanting to be a main character,
then giving me a list of uber pokémon their character has.. But for most cameos, I tell them all the same thing..

If I'm going to add any cameos, it'll be during the battle
tower as a random trainer..

Where do you get your Mystery Dungeon Sprites?

Like I said before..

I get all sprites directly out of the games.
I've got a device which let's me play my GBA games on my
monior. I bring the game up on the screen, take screen shots
of the character or item I need, and then edit out the backgrounds.

How come the AIM Icon links don't work in Extras?

I'm not sure, I'm wondering if it's the new version
of AIM or something else, the coding hasn't been changed
since I first put them up, and they all worked before,
I'll try looking up some information and seeing if the
code has changed.

Are you going to make WWBD Shirts?

This refers to a fake shirt graphic I made, for an
interview about the comic.

I will not be making these shirts and selling them,
I wish I could, but I don't think I could get the
rights from Nintendo to do so, they would make some
cool shirts though..

Why is the P-X Myspace page set to private?

It's a dirty trick I know, but if it's said to private,
people have to add P-X as a friend in order to read, meaning
more friends for the count.

What website do you get your sprites from?

I don't get them from any website, I rip all sprites
by myself, I can't stress this enough cause I get at least
three e-mails a day asking me where I get my sprites.
I DO NOT GET MY SPRITES FROM A WEBSITE!!

Why is Brendan's last name "Richards"?

I wanted a nice normal sounding last name for Brendan,
since his dad is Norman and Norman uses Normal type pokémon,
so I chose Richards.. I'm not exactly sure why I thought
Richards sounded normal.. in retrospect.. I wish I would have
chosen a name that began with N.

How far exactly are you trying to get in your comic?

Well with any story, I'm trying to get to the end,
whether that end is in Hoenn, Kanto, Johto or Sinnoh,
I don't know yet, I'd like to keep the comic going,
take them to all 4 regions, but who knows if that'll happen,
I have a life.. and I have obligations, we'll just have to wait
and see.

Have you ever thought of quiting the comic?

Unfortunately I have, at sometimes it just becomes stressful
to have make three of these week, along with having a job, and
social obligations, but then I remember my readers, and all the
friends I've made through the comic, and I decide I should keep
going, at least to finish the Hoenn Saga.

Tell me where you get your sprites, or at least send them to me.

I don't get my sprites from any website, I rip them all
myself, and sorry, but I don't send out my sprites, I worked
really hard to get them all, and I've put a lot of heart and
soul into them, if you depend on the sprites that someone else
has ripped, you don't really put enough of yourself into the comic.

Will you pass your comic down to anyone in your family before you quit?

I don't really plan on quiting anytime soon, and I don't
really have an heir to pass it down to.. not yet anyway, and
I don't plan on having children anytime soon, and if I did,
it would take at least fourteen years before that child could
take on the responsibility of the comic, so.. yeah.. I'm stuck
with it for at least.. fourteen more years.

Have you ever thought of making your comic into a book?

As much as I would love to have Pokémon-X become a book,
I don't own any rights to pokémon, so I wouldn't be able to sell it.
I'd like to walk around a book store and see copies of Pokémon-X for
sale on on the shelves and see people reading through them without
paying, but yeah, unfortunately, Nintendo wouldn't allow me to do that.

Why hasn't the comic updated!?

This is for one of two reasons;

1. The comic only updates three times a week, with the
exceptions of holidays. So if the date is only one or two
days off, then this is probably because the next update day
hasn't occured yet.

2. The comic is behind due to my busy life, either work,
college, or social obligations. I don't skip days, so the
comic will continue to update, but in the original timeline.
I don't feel that is fair to everyone to skip several comics
just to get to the current date.
I'm not an idiot, I know what today's date is.
I have several devices that tell me the current date.
A cell phone, a laptop, a wrist watch all tell me the
correct date, I'm not going to skip a bunch of comics
just because a few people can't ignore one line of text
on the comic's main page.

In other words..

The comic is still updating, just ignore the date,
and keep checking to see new pages.

If you were directed here after e-mailing about it,
or if someone in the chatroom sent you here because
you asked about it, even though the first thing you see
when you enter, explains what's going on, if you were
sent here, after all of that. Consider yourself a moron.

TELL ME WHERE YOU GET YOUR DAMNED SPRITES!!

Why isn't BAM making anymore guest comics?

BAM dumped me for a midget on September 13th, 2009, and
refuses to even try to be friends. Even though I miss her
very much, and wish we could still be friends, even after
she lied to me about a lot of things. She doesn't want
anything to do with me. Sorry everyone, but she will
not make any more guest comics.

Why do people in the chat room not like me?

This could be for several reason:

1. You acted like a complete asshole. (usually the case.)

2. You're under the age of 13, too young
to read the comic and too young to be in the chat
room, and you act like a child.

3. You're one of the many idiots who came to
the room thinking it's a room about the games, when it
is obviously about a webcomic. If this is the case..
consider yourself an idiot for not noticing the obvious.

4. You're a troll.

5. You make frequent typos, and use horrible grammar.

If these are the case, please try to better yourself for the
sake of the whole planet.

Why are there so many questions about your sprites?

Because even though it is mentioned several times through
out this FAQ, people. still. freaking. ask! It even says not
to e-mail me about sprites on the Contact Page, and they still
e-mail me! You'd think some people would have some sense.
